Claims guidance

When you need to make a claim

How to prepare for a clear, useful conversation about what happened.

PABL introductory guide · 3 minute read

Check your policy instructions

Your policy should explain how to notify the insurer and any relevant time limits. Emergency assistance numbers may differ from the general claims contact.

Record the essentials

Keep your policy reference, the date of the incident and a factual account of what happened. Preserve relevant photographs, receipts and correspondence where available.

Ask what happens next

Find out what information is needed, who will handle the claim and how to obtain updates. Keep a record of conversations and reference numbers.

Understand the broker’s role

PABL can assist with the process and communication where appropriate. Decisions about cover and settlement are made by the insurer or its authorised claims handler under the policy terms.

This guide provides general information. It is not a recommendation of a particular policy or confirmation of cover. Speak with our team about your circumstances.
